Its a little known fact that Tacx Training Software owners can actually ride a scenic adaptation of one of the most famous grand tours in the world the Route des Grandes Alpes in the French Alps. We start on the southern edge of the mountain range & take many of the most well known climbs & a small detour into Italy before returning to France & finishing on the shores of lake Geneva. Filmed between 2011 & 2012,  includes 19 major climbs over 639km split between 3 BD disks or via downloads (for those with enough bandwidth)

Route des Grandes Alpes – Part I T2056.01

This is the first Blu-ray film ever by Tacx and the first of a unique series: the Route des Grandes Alpes. This legendary route goes right through the Alps from south to north. In this first stage you ride through the French Haute Provence past the beautiful Gorges du Cians, after which you will find a number of challenging climbs on your way, such as the Col de la Couillole, the Col de la Bonette (one of the highest paved roads in the Alps), the Col de Vars and the Col d’Izoard. The second stage of our Route des Grandes Alpes is expected mid 2012.

The superior Blu-ray picture quality perfectly fits with the Route des Grandes Alpes, a breathtakingly beautiful route right through the Alps. In the middle part of this epic ride you continue north, from Briançon over the Col de Montgenèvre (1850m) into Italy for Sestriere and the tarmac side of the Colle delle Finestre (2176m). After returning into France over the Mont Cenis (2083m) you have to conquer the high Col de l’Iséran (2764m) to finish on the Cormet de Roselend (1968m). Part 3 will continue from here. This high quality Blu-ray film covers the last part of the epic Route des Grandes Alpes, a breathtakingly beautiful route right through the Alps from south to north. After descending the Cormet de Roselend, the final climb of part 2, you will soon find eight challenging climbs on your way, including the Col des Saisies, Col des Aravis, Col de la Colombière, Col de Joux Plane, Col de la Joux Verte and Col du Corbier. The finish is in the well-known spa town of Évian-les-Bains on the south bank of Lake Geneva. The total distance is 202 km.
